Entrepreneur Nishaea Richardson, owner of Wealth Phenom LLC, doing business as She's the Budget Guru has created an enterprise dedicated to helping people achieve financial wellness through financial coaching, workshops, and speaking at events to inspire as well as teach the value of financial stability.
Richardson began her financial wellness journey during the COVID-19 pandemic where she initially started working at a credit restoration service. She eventually realized she was more interested in engaging with clients on a deeper level.
Originally pursuing a degree in Physical Education, Richardson later decided to attend the Financial Coach Academy to earn her certification in financial coaching. This allowed her to help clients with a foundation of expertise, in addition to her own personal experience.
“I wanted to be more hands on and really help people with managing their money, building a healthier relationship with their finances…doing the real deep work versus that service level stuff,” said Richardson.
The debt rate in America is rapidly increasing due to credit-card debt, inflation, and most significantly, the lack of financial literacy.
Many people aren’t educated on budgeting, saving, or debt management. Without the proper financial knowledge, individuals often overestimate their ability to repay loans or underestimate the long-term costs of credit, which can lead to more debt.
As for her financial coaching, Richardson’s guidance is about influencing clients to make informed decisions that align with their values and aspirations as well as prevent and eliminate debt.
She also hosts workshops and events for nonprofit, corporate, and government organizations, educating both employees and the general public.

The purpose of these workshops are to provide people with more clarity and self-assurance in their financial journey.
“I think that we are living in a country where consumerism and debt and all of those things are just so normal that people have so much financial stress in their lives and they don't have to…I want people to see that they can have a better quality of life,” said Richardson.
In the Capital Region, she leads workshops for the Community Loan Fund, which is dedicated to helping small business owners with their personal finances.
When asked why having a financially healthy lifestyle is so important to her, Richardson reflected on her personal experience with money management and when she decided it was time for a change.
“I've lived a lot of paycheck to paycheck months in years and once I got into a space where that was no longer my lifestyle, it was like a totally different quality of life,” she said.
She has online sessions where she works with clients one on one via zoom to teach budgeting, optimize income, multiply savings, plan ahead for peace of mind, and pay off debt.
Her biggest accomplishment thus far is her multi-year contract with the Affordable housing partnership which helps families prepare their finances before home ownership.
“I'm looking to build more spaces where communities can come together to talk about finances on all different levels,” says Richardson.
As for the future of Wealth Phenom LLC, Richardson hopes to expand her clientele and continue spreading the word about money management.
