About Us
It’s never easy to sum up what we do in just one sentence, but at our core, we’re here to make an impact.

The mission:
To prepare the current and next generation of professionals and entrepreneurs using innovative programs.
Torres Social, formerly known as Get Local, was founded in April 2022 by Albany native and former police officer Gina Torres.
With a deep desire to make a meaningful impact, Gina transitioned from law enforcement with no backup plan and found her calling in entrepreneurship. Her first taste of the entrepreneurial world came as a financial representative, but after just three months, she left to create her own venture.
Originally established as a vendor fair and community events company, Torres Social quickly grew from organizing small events with 5-10 vendors to hosting fairs with over 50-100 participants.
Gina’s talent for fostering connections and building networks made her a trusted resource for small businesses and entrepreneurs throughout the Capital Region.
Recognizing the need for mentorship and guidance, Gina launched her first mentorship program, offering $25 monthly sessions. Within just two months, she had over 50 businesses enrolled. Building on this success, she created and led three business bootcamps, each with over 10 participants, and supported more than 250 businesses through events and tailored resources.
As demand grew, Gina expanded her services to include brand development, social media management, web design, consulting, and strategic marketing. Today, Torres Social operates as a hybrid, referral-only consultancy. This model allows us to prioritize small business clients while also securing larger RFP and contract opportunities with partners like Life Reins Inc., a nonprofit providing equine-facilitated psychotherapy for mental health services.
By maintaining a hybrid approach, we offer affordable and competitive pricing for small businesses while delivering high-impact results for larger projects. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to uncover and live their purpose. Our mission is to provide the roadmap that empowers entrepreneurs to build sustainable, flourishing businesses.
With offices in Albany, NY, and Tampa, FL, Torres Social is committed to transforming visions into reality and making purpose-driven entrepreneurship accessible to all.

Where We Are Today.
